Tasmania Golf Tours

A golfer’s mecca, Tasmania provides some of the most stunning golf courses in the country.

Barely a one hour drive from Launceston the coastal township of Bridport boasts not one, not two, but now three dramatic golf courses overlooking Bass Strait. Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm Golf Courses are ranked in the world's top 100 including the Bougle Run - a challenging 14 hole short course which opened in March 2021.

King Island is home to Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes Golf Courses, arguably set in one of the most remote golfing locations anywhere in the world.

Quamby Estate offers a rare gem of a Tasmanian golf course situated close to Launceston, featuring nine lakes, cascades, creeks, and challenging ‘Scottish” bunkers.

Located in the Central Highlands is Australia’s oldest golf course, Ratho Farm. Including 18 holes, it offers a unique blend of historical charm and modern golfing challenge.

Soon you will be able to experience Tasmania’s newest golf course, Seven Mile Golf, a world class public golf course located 20 minutes from Hobart.

Tassie's Top Golf Courses

1   Barnbougle Dunes/Lost Farm/Bougle Run

Situated on the sand dunes of Bridport overlooking Bass Strait these three course are truly a golfers mecca! The Dunes (18 holes) opened in 2004 and is ranked #2 in Australia by Golf Australia. Lost Farm Golf Course (ranked #4) opened in 2010 and the new short course Bougle Run boasts 14 new challenging holes and opened March 2021.

2   Cape Wickham – King Island

Arguably one of the most remote golf courses in the world, situated on the northern tip of King Island in Bass Strait. Ranked #3 in Australia by Golf Australia the course wraps around the rugged and windswept coastline with spectacular views from every fairway. The signature hole (18th) will have you hitting over (hopefully) the beach onto a stunning approach to the final hole. The Cape Wickham Lighthouse provides a welcome line of sight to most holes.

3   Ocean Dunes – King Island

Dramatic coastal scenery and stunning position on King Island’s west coast delivers a rewarding golf experience for those prepared to take on the landscape, wind speed and direction, and ultimately trust their club selection. Ranked in the top 10 public access golf courses in Australia by Golf Australia no visit to King Island is complete without playing “The Dunes”.

4   Royal Hobart Golf Club - Hobart

Located at Seven Mile Beach, 25 minutes from the city of Hobart, Royal Hobart GC is recognised as Tasmania’s premier members’ club.

5   The Tasman Golf Club – Port Arthur

Arguably Southern Tasmania’s most picturesque golf course overlooking the famous Tasman Peninsula sea cliffs. The signature 8th holes has golfers tee off across a 100 metre chasm between cliffs!

6   Orford Golf Course – Orford

Another coastal course overlooking the holiday township of Orford across to Maria Island. Visitors welcome to enjoy this scenic nine hole course.

7   Bicheno Golf Club – Bicheno

Situated on the northern edge of the beautiful holiday town of Bicheno this is another nine hole course, but boasts 18 tees to offer an additional nine holes. Tree lined fairways and coastal breezes provide the usual challenges for all golfers.

8   Ratho Golf Club - Bothwell

The Ratho Farm Golf Links were first laid out and enjoyed by the pioneering Reid family, who emigrated from Scotland and settled Ratho in 1822. It is Australia’s oldest golf course, and the oldest remaining outside of Scotland. The Ratho Golf Links is a time capsule, among the best preserved of all the world’s early golf courses. Its most apparent uniqueness is the sheep, which graze and keep the playing areas short, with fences to keep them from the square greens.
