The Cascades Female Factory Historic Site is situated in the country of the Muwinina people, nestled at the base of kunanyi/Mount Wellington, in South Hobart, Tasmania. This site reflects on the story of the dispossession, mistreatment and forced migration of convict women and girls, and their contribution to the history of Australia from colonisation to the present day. Interwoven are the First Nation’s stories of Palawa, a culture that is over 40,000 years old and which was so gravely impacted by British colonisation.

Tour Includes:

• Site opens from 9am daily (except Christmas Day). All site entry tickets include an audio experience accessible on your own device and access to the whole site and the exhibition gallery.

Tour Details:

• Convict Women's Tour Immerse yourself with an engaging guided tour to learn the stories of the women who have shaped the foundation of modern Australia. Tours run approximately 40 minutes starting at 10:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm & 3:00pm daily.
• The Proud and the Punished A 45-minute dramatised one-woman performance that brings to life what it was like to live, serve, work at the Female Factory in the 1800s. Performance starts daily at 12:00pm.
